Pelosi on when life begins. . .

I read a great commentary concerning Pelosi's answer to Tom Brokaw's question concerning when life begins. The commentary "Pope Pelosi at the gate" by Washington Post writer Kathleen Parker was excellent and appeared in The State Newspaper on Aug 28. It also mentioned the book Embryo co-authored by a local resident and professor at the University of South Carolina which seeks to establish the embryo's personhood using major scientific works on human embrogenesis.
Pelosi is missing the point and misrepresenting church teaching. The church has always taught that abortion was wrong. I'd like to pull a few quotes from the Didache or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles [ca A.D 140]. It starts out: "There are two ways, one of life and one of death: and great is the difference between the two ways. The way of life is this: first, you shall love God, who created you. . . . The second commandment of the teaching: You shall not murder. . . . . You shall not procure abortion, nor destroy a new-born child." And finally, I'd like to point out just one more for Ms. Pelosi: "You shall not be double-minded nor double-tongued. . . ."

Chick Tracts

I had planned to post something about our trip to the Catholic tradeshow, but the topic of Jack Chick has come up for the second time this week. What can be done about the lies propogated by these tracts? Know your faith so that when the topic comes you can defend it. We actually have a discussion group that meets at the shop after hours on Wednesday for this purpose. In September, we will be discussing how to talk to atheists and new agers.

We're back from the Catholic Marketing Network's summer trade show in Somerset, NJ!
Saw lots of new things, met lots of new vendors!
More later!
